| For the past 3 years, Boys Varsity Baseball has been one of the top teams in League and CIF, even against tough competition in Division 2, such as Crescenta Valley, Harvard-Westlake, Cypress and Pacifica. This year, the boys are continuing their legacy with a record of 10-4 in league and 19-7 overall, and they have set their goals high with hopes to "beat CV, claim the Pacific League title, and win CIF" championships according to senior Darren Kerfoot.
So how are they preparing to meet their goals? Dedication and talent of course. Everyday, the Boys Varsity Baseball team practices from "2 to 5: 30 pm everyday" stated junior David Dominguez, andwhen they don't feel like they have practiced enough, they "ask the coaches for extra time" to practice. Besides practicing and working on their hitting, the boys put in extra time to scout other teams, typically its pitchers and hitters to prepare themselves for how fast the pitchers throw and how hard those hitters hit. But it's going to be tough, Darren commented, "the rest of the games are gonna be against good teams but its our choice whether we are gonna do what we are capable of doing which is destroying them or letting the game be close"
One final addition to why our Boys Varsity Baseball team is one of the best teams is the essential component of every team, their camaraderie. At games, the boys strongly root for one another, often "yelling and screaming" when the team scores Darren stated. Other times, before, after or during games, David declared that the team had special "handshakes that need to be done at certain time". Outside of school, the boys also participate in bonding field trips. David noted that as a freshman, the team went to a military base in San Diego for several nights to bond. There, they received dog tags, that many of them wear everyday for good luck.
Winding up the last few days of the season and the school year, the Boys Varsity Baseball team are finishing strong with CIF championships just within their reach. For seniors like Darren, with school ending in less the 30 days, "it's definitely a bitter sweet feeling" and he's "definitely gonna miss the game of baseball and playing it everyday, being in the sunshine will all my friends doing what we love".

| For the past three years, Boys Varsity Baseball has been one of the top teams in League and CIF, even against tough competition in Division 2, such as Crescenta Valley, Harvard-Westlake, Cypress, and Pacifica. After starting out well by winning 10 games in row at league and having a 41 game winning streak, the Boys Varsity Baseball team are ending their unbelievable season with 2nd place in league and 19-7 overall. Coach Nicholas Lemas stated that although there “was a lot of pressure to keep that winning streak going and that the boys did a good job of continuing it.”
So how did the team meet these goals? There’s talent, and of course dedication. Everyday, the Boys Varsity Baseball team practices from "2 to 5: 30 p.m everyday" stated junior David Dominguez, and when they don't feel like they have practiced enough, they "ask the coaches for extra time" to practice. Besides practicing and working on their hitting, the boys put in extra time to scout other teams. They typically look in to its pitchers and hitters to prepare themselves for how fast and in what direction the pitchers would throw and how hard those hitters hit.
Another addition to why our Boys Varsity Baseball team is one of the best teams is the essential component of every team, their camaraderie. At games, the boys strongly root for one another, often "yelling and screaming" when the team scores senior Darren Kerfoot stated. Other times, before, after or during games, David declared that the team has special "handshakes that need to be done at certain times". There, they received dog tags, that many of them wear everyday for good luck.
Winding up the last few days of the season and the school year, the Boys Varsity Baseball team ended with a “pretty successful season”, Coach Lemas said. For seniors like Darren, with school ending in less the 20 days, "it's definitely a bitter sweet feeling" and he's "definitely going to miss the game of baseball and playing it everyday, being in the sunshine will all my friends doing what we love.”
